Club Running Good Teammate Policy
Club Sports · University of San Francisco
ARTICLE 1: Purpose
Section 1: Details regarding the structure, officer responsibilities, and membership qualifications of Club Running are determined by the Club Sports program within the Rec Sports Department. The Club Running Good Teammate Policy’s purpose is to outline additional features of the club pursuant to positive, safe, healthy activities and engagement.
ARTICLE 2: Environment
Section 1: Club Running is for people of all athletic abilities, skill, and experience levels.
Section 2: Club Running’s objective is to encourage runners to develop at whatever rate they feel comfortable. Running is a choice and should be a source of joy, not an obligation or a stressor.
Section 3: It is the responsibility of the Club Sport Officers (also referred to as the Executive Board) to monitor the Club Running environment to ensure that it remains in adherence to the above sections.
ARTICLE 3: Community Standards
Section 1: Members of Club Running are expected to treat each other with respect. While disputes may arise occasionally and temperaments differ among members, this is the expected baseline for interaction.
Section 2: Members of running Club have the right to privacy. No member should be coerced, pressured, or otherwise unwillingly prompted to reveal personal information.
Section 3: Behavior, including but not limited to, hazing, bullying, harassment (sexual or otherwise), or threats (explicit or implicit) is prohibited. Violation is grounds for referral to the Office of Student Conduct Rights and Responsibilities and Title IX, and may result in removal from Club Running, see Article 4 section 4.
Article 4: Club Running is intended to be a place to make friends, exercise, and have a good time. Members are allowed to approach Club Running however they want, as long as they don’t impose on others.
ARTICLE 4: Intervention Procedures
Section 1: In addition to utilizing other campus resources (Club Sports Office, OSCRR, Title IX Office), members with concerns, disputes, or other conflicts that jeopardize their enjoyment of the Club should communicate that to a Club Running Officer. The Executive Board will advise them on resolving the issue, and will not take any action not sanctioned by the member unless the issue negatively impacts other members.
Section 2: Minor interpersonal disputes, should they arise, are expected to be resolved by members themselves, if possible. Assistance from a Club Running Officer is available if necessary.
Section 3: If one member’s behavior makes another member feel uncomfortable, it should be shared to any Club Running Officer, please see Article III above.
Section 4: Any behavior that violates Article 3, sections 2 and 3, should be reported to any Club Running Officer. If deemed necessary, the Executive Board will involve the appropriate authority, including but not limited to the Club Sports, Dean of Students, OSCRR, Title IX Offices, and USF Public Safety.
